Melbourne Market Diary: July 2012

Since the weather has taken a turn for the nasty, it's sorely tempting to stay cosy inside come the weekend. The Saturday crossword, a peppermint tea, and a hot water bottle on the toes...why leave the house? Only for the promise of warming crafts, wearable wintry one-offs, and that dash for the car through the rain, clutching your new market finds! Click read more for a calendar of just a few of the markets to be found in Melbourne this July.

The July round-up:

1. Winter Artisans' Market

When? June 30th and July 7th, 10am - 4pm
Where? Northcote Town Hall
What? Northcote's annual Winter Artisans' Markets, which run for four weekends in June/July (yes, you've already missed two, so hurry on up!) Local and handmade goods, plus entertainment while you browse: on July 7th there will be Latin American music and a "cuddly mobile animal farm" at the markets! What a combo to warm you up!

2. Yarraville Markets

When? Saturday 14th July, 10am - 5pm (second weekend of each month)
Where? Masonic Hall, Yarraville
What? Crafty, crafty goodness: think crochet soft toys, quirky jewellery, and Greenscape terrariums. Take a peek at the blog for a taster of the adorableness that awaits.

3. The Makers' Market

When? Sunday 15th July, 10am - 4pm (third Sunday of each month)
Where? Abbotsford Convent
What? Artworks and crafts by local artists and makers - paintings, textiles, prints, ceramics, jewellery, clothing, sculpture, stationary, toys...

4. Carlton Eclectic Market

When? Saturday 21st July, 11am - 5pm (third Saturday of each month)
Where? The Clyde Hotel, Cardigan Street, Carlton
What? Clothing by emerging designers, plus some great vintage. In its relaxed beer garden setting a stone's throw from Melbourne Uni, this is a great excuse for a Saturday of drinking, eating, browsing, and hanging about.

5. Southside Handmade and Vintage Markets

When? Saturday 28th July, 11am - 4pm (last Saturday each month)
Where? St Kilda RSL Club, Acland Street
What? Vintage clothing and accessories in great condition, fashion by emerging local designers, homey bits n bobs, and yummy snacks.
